Types of Massage

Deep Tissue
Releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons, and fascia. It is called deep tissue, because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Sports Massage
Is broken up into two different categories, pre and post event. Sports Massage is the application of Massage and Stretch techniques to the muscle and connective tissues of the body to enhance athletic performance and maximize the performance of the athlete.

Swedish
The goal is relaxing the entire body and this is accomplished by massaging the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Additional techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending and stretching.

Prenatal Massage
Supports the physiological, structural, and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Various forms of massage therapy including Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular and movement massage may be applied throughout pregnancy as well as labor and postpartum.

Lymphatic Drainage
Is an advanced form of massage that aims to stimulate the lymphatic system to remove congestion and stagnation from within the body, and to allow its return to a healthy condition.

Trigger Point
It affects not only the muscle where the trigger point is located, but also causes "referred pain" in tissues supplied by nerves.

Injury Massage
Assists in rehabilitation of soft tissue after post operation or other forms of injury.

Reflexology
This is the art and science of working specific reflex points on the hands, feet, and ears to relax and relieve stress and pain in the body.

Cranial Sacral Therapy
Is a holistic healing practice that uses eight grams of pressure to balance the craniosacral system in the body, which includes the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area.

Structural Body Work
Is muscle manipulation to improve posture and body structure.

Seated Massage
While relaxing in a chair made special for massage, the therapist is able to work the sore and tight muscles, causing relaxation and melting away stress and anxiety.
